Perinatal Mental Health Counseling

Support for Preconception, Fertility Challenges, Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Loss

While having a solid support network is crucial, it’s not always a given. Life changes—like a recent move, a breakup, divorce, or welcoming a new baby—can cause our support systems to shift. Even when we do have friends and family around, finding people who truly understand what we’re going through can feel challenging. Maybe you’re single and surrounded by couples, or perhaps you're navigating postpartum depression while your friends have either moved on or aren’t facing the same struggles.

That’s where I come in.

With specialized training in women’s issues—including complex trauma, body image, and perinatal mental health— I’ve walked alongside women through just about every stage of life. When you need someone who gets it and genuinely cares, you have a safe place to turn.

My approach is to meet you exactly where you are. If you’re battling anxiety, depression, or need more clinical support through somatic, attachment, and mindfulness-based therapy, we’ll focus on that. If you’re doing relatively well but need guidance in self-care, navigating relationships, or exploring new life paths, I’ll be there to help you take those steps.

I also know that life is busy, so I make it as easy as possible to get the help you need. Whether you prefer in-office therapy in Hendersonville or online video sessions, we’ll find what works for you.

How do I know if therapy will help?

  • You’ve been thinking about getting perinatal mental health support for a while, but with everything on your plate—pregnancy, preparing for a baby, or adjusting to postpartum life—finding time for regular therapy feels like another burden to juggle.

  • You’re experiencing heightened anxiety, overwhelm, or sadness, and you need help now. You don’t want to wait months for relief, and you need a space where you can process and heal at your own pace, without feeling rushed or like you’re just ticking a box.

  • Maybe you have a short window of time, like during maternity leave, and you want to use it to focus on your mental health, ensuring you’re as supported as possible before returning to daily responsibilities.

  • Perhaps you’re facing a specific challenge—whether it’s preparing for birth, coping with postpartum changes, or managing anxiety or depression—and you want to address it deeply and efficiently, with a plan tailored to your needs.

  • If you’ve been in therapy before but feel like your current therapist isn’t fully equipped to handle the unique aspects of perinatal mental health, you can engage in more specialized sessions focused on attachment, somatic work, and the emotional shifts that come with parenthood. You can then continue your therapeutic journey with a clearer understanding and stronger foundation.

Whether you’re in pregnancy, postpartum, or navigating new motherhood, this space is designed to meet you where you are.

Benefits of Therapy During The Perinatal Period

  • Strengthen Your Bond with Baby

Attachment-based therapy can help you build a strong emotional connection with your baby, even before birth. By working through any emotional blocks or past trauma, you’ll feel more present and connected, fostering a healthy bond that benefits both you and your child in the long run.

  • Reduce Stress and Anxiety

The perinatal period can bring a lot of pressure and uncertainty, and it's common to feel overwhelmed. Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to process those feelings, helping you reduce stress and develop practical coping strategies to manage anxiety, so you can enjoy this life-changing time more fully.

  • Enhance Partnership in Parenthood

Therapy provides a space to explore the evolving dynamics of your relationship as you and your partner step into parenthood. It helps you navigate the changes in communication, intimacy, and shared responsibilities, fostering a deeper sense of teamwork and understanding. By working through challenges together, you’ll build a more solid foundation for your partnership, ensuring that both of you feel supported and connected as you parent together.

  • Prioritize Your Wellness Without Guilt

It’s easy to lose yourself in the demands of pregnancy or early parenthood, but therapy gives you the space to prioritize your own mental and emotional health without guilt. By taking care of yourself, you’re not only improving your well-being, but you’re also setting an example of healthy self-care for your child.

What to Expect:

  • We will schedule a 15-20 minute consultation call to decide if we're a good fit. It's important to be able to relate, trust, and connect with the therapist you choose. During this call, I am happy to answer any questions you have about my approach, cost, experience, etc.

If we decide not to move forward with working together, I will provide referrals for therapists in the area that fit your needs.

  • We will meet for a 60-minute intake session, which can take place either virtually or in-person, depending on your preference. During this time, we will carefully review your personal history, discuss your current concerns in detail, and clarify your goals for therapy. Then, we will explore possible next steps together and determine the key areas we can focus on during the upcoming sessions to support your healing and growth.

  • Therapy with me feels more like a team effort than a doctor’s visit. We’ll work together on understanding your emotions, setting goals, and overcoming challenges. Each session is focused on what you need. You know yourself best, and I’m here to guide and support you (and give you some tools along the way).

These can take place in-office or virtually.
